There have been several successfully-funded pen projects over the past several months on Kickstarter, the popular crowd-scourcing site. But the lack of pencil projects led Brian Conti to take a slightly different tack with the Spoke Mechanical Pencil project. Machined in the U.S.A. from 6061 aluminum, the Spoke’s body has unique styling which features a hexagonal cross-section contoured near the tip for better grip while writing. Six slots cut through the body provide the “spokes,” evoking a bicycle wheel or the rims of a car. There are several funding options which include various colors and finishes, including natural aluminum and anodized gunmetal, red, blue, black and green. You can become a backer for a minimum $27 pledge, but do it quick—only five days left as of this writing to get aboard.
