Optimus Vu also reaches half a million units sold
LG has announced that it’s reached a total of five million 4G LTE smartphones sold worldwide, up from four million a month ago. Announcing the milestone today, LG notes that it now has more than ten LTE smartphones on the market in South Korea, Japan, the U.S. and certain European countries. A traditional area of strength for LG, its LTE sales are lead by its flagship Optimus LTE, which contributed more than two million to the overall total.
The manufacturer also says it’s shifted more than 500,000 units of the Optimus Vu, its 5-inch slab that aims to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note (check out our review for more on the Vu). That number’s sure to increase when the Vu arrives in the U.S. later this quarter. In addition, LG is expected to launch the Optimus LTE II on Verizon in the U.S. around the same time, under the name “LG Spectrum II.”
