Not Much Hyperventilating Over Hacker's Hypervisor Code Theft

A hacker with the handle "Hardcore Charlie" has stolen source code for VMware's ESX hypervisor and posted it on the Internet. A hypervisor provides a virtualization layer between operating systems and the underlying hardware, creating a virtual machine. This lets users run multiple virtual machines on one processor.

Is this RIM's BlackBerry 10 development device?

Image

You know the drill -- grab yourself a spoonful of Morton's and get ready for another supposed leak of a gadget. This time around, you're looking at what's claimed as being one of Research In Motion's BlackBerry 10 "Development Alpha" devices that'll be handed out during next week's BlackBerry Jam -- just like the company promised a month ago. Images of the device first surfaced over at CrackBerry's forums and, as the site points out, the touchscreen candy bar seems to share its design DNA with the PlayBook. Keeping in mind that it's likely to remain a testing device for devs, don't bank on it ever hitting store shelves. That said, we're now curious how pivotal a role RIM's famous tactile keyboards will play on its next-generation phones -- if any. Head over to the source links below if you'd like to catch more photos from Mr. Blurrycam and extra information in the meantime.

Just Mobile AluPen Pro Review

I travel a great deal throughout the country and do my best to survey what the tech folks are using along the way. This is especially true in the airports, where people (young children to little old ladies and everything in between) are killing time on their various electronic devices. Over the past year or [...]

The Lighter Side of IT Consumerization

You've probably heard the term "consumerization of IT." Some of the network and security pros reading this probably think this is yet another meaningless industry buzzword with little or no value. However, to dismiss it as such is to potentially miss out on what is both a very powerful concept ... and one that information security practitioners ignore at their peril.

iPad Impact on Apple Laptop Sales Revisited

The question -- whether the company's tablet cannibalizes sales of its own portable computing line -- is impossible to answer: One can't look into a counter-factual crystal ball to view an alternate universe without the iPad.

Sensu Artist Brush Capacitive Stylus Review

If you enjoy painting on canvas, you might find that you also enjoy “painting” on an iPad. Or if you’ve never painted before, doing so on a tablet is fun and way less messy. I am a doodler and don’t claim to have any talent whatsoever. I just enjoy drawing cartoons and thingamabobs whenever I’m [...]

iRig Mix Turns Music Listeners Into Music Makers

My music lessons at school were a little uninspiring, and at home my Bontempi keyboard failed to inspire me -- even with its seven preset voices. I was slightly skeptical when I stumbled across the DJ Rig app for iPhone and iPad. Was this another short-lived gimmick?
